Alicia Freyre

I have been passionate about biodiversity since I was very young, and I have always wanted to work with wild animals. I have always wanted to turn my passion into a career.

To that end, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering at the University of Lyon 1 (France) and had the opportunity to complete various internships in ecotoxicology focusing on aquatic fauna at the National Institute for Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Research (INRAE). I also completed an internship at a reintroduction center for the white-tailed eagle. This internship allowed me to discover my passion and fascination for birds.

I then enrolled in a master’s program in Biodiversity, Ecology, and Evolution at the University of Lyon 1 (France). During my first year of the master’s program, I joined this team to expand my knowledge and specialize in ornithology and fieldwork.

During this internship, I worked on Spotless starlings (Sturnus unicolor) and the impact of male investment during breeding seasons. The main objectives of this internship were (i) to study whether male investment during the first brood could affect the timing of the second brood, (ii) as well as the reproductive success of this second brood.
