Thomas Crouchet

I am interested in two main areas of research:

1) social interactions between individuals, including social learning, cultural transmission of behaviors, maternal care.

2) acoustic communication among vertebrates

My studies focus on birds, with two flagship species: zebra finches (Taeniopygia guttata) and now spotless starlings (Sturnus unicolor).

In a previous internship in collaboration with the CNPS ENES team of Saint Etienne, in France I worked on the behavioral response of female zebra finch to the emotional content of her partner's vocalizations, particularly on the impact of stress.

I completed a BSc in biology of organisms, at the University Jean Monnet of Saint Etienne (France) and I am currently following a firstyear of M.Sc. in Ecology & Animal Behaviour, also in Saint Etienne.

In parallel with my course, I am involved in local projects of follow-up of wild populations: ringing Eurasian woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) and censusing wild boar (Sus scrofa), roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) and European hare (Lepus europaeus).
